Went out today and wheeled for a couple of hours with no real problems. I did get hung up on a high incline for about five minutes until I finally made it over, bounced off a few rocks but again nothing too major, did get into a little water as well. On the drive home I realized I lost my overdrive. I ran at around 3000 rpm all the way back from the badlands.
My engine light is on (showing a p0700 code, genric tranny problem) and everything shifts (including downshifts) normal, I just have no overdrive now. Anyone have any ideas? It's an 01'XJ with a AW-4 tranny, auto.
Thanks...

i went over to NAXJA and did a search for aw4 overdrive and it came up with some threads, here is one www.naxja.org/forum/showthread.php?t=1029047&highlight=aw4+overdrive i personally don't have any experience diagnosing transmission issues but i would start by reading up over on NAXJA they said over there you should get a 2nd code after the p0700.

Thanks Stuntman for the link, ended up reading a few of them. I blew the engine light off finally after four tries with my hypertech and it has stayed off. Not sure if the Jeep just needed to rest horizontal for a while or dry out from the water but the overdrive is back and appears to be working fine. Guess I'll wait and see if it continues to work and maybe clean up around the NSS soon.
