Hey Pork! When you haul that YJ down, you might want to zip tie the fuel lines in the engine bay.

HEY RASIN since you are going to all the work of changing engine why are you using a 258? One they are slow and by the time you spend the money to rebiuld it you could have already had a small block in it. Small block is easy to find easy to work on, cheapest parts in the country, more power better feul economy ect. You could ad some full width axles that are already at porkys and have a bad ass yj for minimal money!!! That is just my Honest Opinion

It is coming up for me now, thanks.
I took the passenger side fender off tonight and started grinding and removing the rust. There is a real nasty spot of rust under the fender flare, which I will remove tomorrow to see the extent of the rust.

Sold and sold. It will make life easier. Pick it up for me and I will repay you the next jeep night. I had sent them an e-mail about it and it will be on a first come basis, so when ever you are able to get over there and pick them up, I would appreciate it.

It has been a long time since I have posted anything about the YJ but this summer has been very busy at the ranch. I also have to keep my guests in mind when cutting or grinding on the thing. I don't think my customer wants to sit next to the camp fire and listen to the sound of grinding on the tub. I decided to attempt the Rustoleum paint job. I know it will not be as durable as an auto paint but the cost is hard to beat and I can afford to make mistakes. Wally let me borrow his two paint guns and I began to read a few DIY articles and a ton of youtube footage. Since I am hardly able to dedicate several hours at a time to this project, I decided to use the rattle can primer. This limits the amount of spray gun cleaning I would have to do. Below are my choices of paint and primer.

I figured I had this almost completely torn down, so I figured I might as well take it all the way. I removed the fenders and pulled everything out of the tub except the dash. Once the fenders where off I ground the rust off the frame and the fire wall. I couldn't wait to use the spray gun so I painted this first. I was not hardcore about the frame. The rear end did not get touched since it would have been a real challenge to reach it with the gas tank in place. I didn't feel like pulling it. I did how ever discover that the body mounts are shot. You may be asking yourself "What is that white color on the frame?" I found this at Lowes I am not a big fan of this product. You are suppose to remove all the loose rust that you can and then apply it. You let it sit for a period of time but not long enough for it to dry. Once it has penetrated, you wash it off with clean water. I have a dirt floor barn, using water to wash anything in there is a pain. I followed the directions but did not see the results I wanted.

I turned my attention towards the fenders. I was dying to do some welding. You will see that my passenger side fender had the typical fender flare hole. The driver side was in better shape with a small rust spot in the fender well. I didn't take a picture of the driver side rust spot but here is a pic after cutting it out.

The fenders after patching. I had to cut a rather large hole in the passenger side in order to remove all the rust. I am not too concerned on the final look since the fender flare will cover most of it up again. I do have some more sanding to do and maybe on more thin layer of bondo. I have primedthe interior of the fender and will not be doing any bondo in it. I have read that bondo will absorb moisture if not painted, so I primed the heck out of the thing. The driver side was a very small hole and turned out great. The floor pans on next on my list and I have started to prep them. I have a replacement panel for one side. I will be cutting it in two pieces to save money instead of buying a second. The eventual goal is to rhino line the interior so my welding does not have to be beautiful. I picked up a can of rust inhibitor from Napa. This is the stuff that turns rust black and primes rust for painting. You will see the black in the picture below of the flinstone floor board. It is turning rust black but who knows if it is really working. The rust you see in this pic is all surface rust that will be ground down to metal. I plan on dropping the cut piece of floor pan right on top of the hole and welding it in place. Here is the empty tub [/URL
I had only one seat bolt break off while pulling the seats. Here is the pesky turd! I am grinding this as well.
